My current work in progress is a humorous YA mystery with the working title END SCENE.
Cory Jameson has many goals starting her sophomore year of high school, but finding a dead body is not one of them! And the body happens to be that of the boy she had a crush on. Who would have ever thought the biggest mistake of her life would be doodling the name of a cute boy on her notebook. I mean, everyone does that, right? So how did everything go so wrong!!?
Cory has decided this is the year- she is going to get the lead in the school play, become beautiful like her mother, and find love. Becoming a murder suspect is not on the agenda.
Lance Brower had it all- good-looking, star hockey player, and leads in all the school plays. Cory had her heart set on him. But her whole world turns upside down when she leaves auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream and trips over Lance’s dead body right next to the bike rack where her bike is parked. A good, long scream brings the authorities rushing, and unfortunately, they don’t have many suspects other than Cory, herself. She doesn’t help things by dropping her history notebook with Lance’s name doodled in hearts all over it right in front of the police officer.
Lance’s best friend, Zach O’Keefe, wants Cory’s help in finding out what happened to his friend. Cory agrees to help him in an effort to clear her name, and that’s when everything really goes downhill.
